Who We Are

Meet a CASA

Sherry Punch

Sherry Punch

This month we would like to introduce you to CASA volunteer, Sherry Punch. She has been an advocate since August of this year and she has been a phenomenal asset to our program. Sherry is a mother to two sweet girls ages three and six. Sherry comes to us with a wealth of knowledge through her professional endeavors. She is a doctor of psychology and a professional chef. She states that she combines her passion for existential coaching, hypnotherapy, and culinary arts. Her goal is to guide individuals toward self-discovery, healing, and personal transformation. Through profound conversations, therapeutic techniques, and the artistry of cooking, she aims to nourish both the mind and palate on the journey to a more fulfilling existence. She co-hosts a new podcast: Be Honest: Relationship Talks with Dr. Yana and Dr. Sherry.

Sherry was raised in Chauvin and she joined the Navy after graduating high school. She spent the majority of her adulthood residing in San Diego, CA. She returned to Terrebonne Parish five years ago. Sherry states she loves quotes, rock climbing and thrilling water sports such as knee boarding and hydro sliding. Sherry said her greatest accomplishment is earning her PhD and the journey of motherhood.
Sherry was assigned to her first case in September. She states that her CASA schedule is communicating with the foster parent a couple of times a month and having face-to-face visits with the child. Sherry has not had to write a court report or attend court yet. She plans to begin reviewing her notes and reaching out to other individuals to fill in the gaps of information to prepare for her upcoming court report and court appearance. Sherry thanks Molly Arrington, a dedicated CASA volunteer, who inspired her and her journey to becoming a CASA.

When asked what advice she would give to someone thinking about becoming a CASA, She said, “As is resonated in a Whitney Houston song, children are the “greatest love of all;” they remind us of" how we used to be." Advocating for children is a blessing. In chaos, it only takes a moment to inspire a child’s world. Children are our future, and the time we give now shall be the reward we see when a child’s voice and story change someone else’s life; perhaps someday, it will change the world. I’m eternally grateful for this gift of giving and strengthening our community through the eyes of a child. After all, in the words of Mother Teresa, “Together we can do great things.”
