Sadie Benoit
Meet Sadie Benoit, in her own words:
My name is Sadie Benoit. I was born and raised in Chackbay, Louisiana, but I have been a resident of Houma for almost 2 years now. I have been with my now fiancé for 8 years and we are getting married in September. When I am not wedding planning, I enjoy gardening, shopping, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and my fur babies. I have two cats (Bindi and Blake) and a beagle (Vincent). I am super grateful for my pets as we spend a lot of time together since I work from home as an accountant. They are the best coworkers!
I joined CASA in July of 2023 and have been working on the same case ever since. I originally heard about CASA years ago and always said I would do it but didn’t think I had the time with college and my job. In 2023, I walked into the Roux for a Reason cookoff and the first booth I saw contained a bunch of smiling faces in CASA attire. I took that as the final sign and decided to make the jump.
CASA has brought me a sense of purpose that I didn’t have before. I would say that I spend about four hours a month on my case. While my daily life is very hectic, I have found committing to a set visitation schedule has helped me ensure that my visits never get missed. I make sure to see my CASA child on the third Wednesday of the month, every month so that we have a schedule until the end of time. Those one hour visits every month bring me so much joy that I can hardly wait for the next one! All throughout the month, I make sure to make note of every point of contact that I have. When it comes time for court reports, it is as easy as just summarizing what has occurred. I see the court reports as a means of reflection as it is so astonishing to see the pictures of the child change and note the changes that they have made over time. I would say that my greatest accomplishment in CASA so far was the first time my CASA child ran up and hugged me. It made every second spent so worth it to see that they saw the commitment and love that we at CASA all have for them. To anyone thinking of becoming a CASA, I would say just do it. Once you start, you will not regret it. You do not know what you are missing!
