Reis Prevost
Reis Prevost’s journey with CASA of Terrebonne began with a deeply personal experience that ignited his passion for advocating for foster children—a mission he now leads as the acting President of the Board of Directors.
Reis was born and raised in Houma, LA, and has been married to his wife, Chrissy, for 17 years. Together, they share two daughters, Jaley and Piper, as well as a dog named "Roux." Reis has had a career in the Oil & Gas Industry for over twenty-two years. He jokingly expresses, "Yes, I’m still working," as a Safety Manager at Enterprise Marine Services, an inland towing vessel company. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends in the great outdoors, whether at their camp in Cocodrie, their hunting camp in North Louisiana, or their condo in Pensacola Beach, Florida. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
Reis’ first-hand experience with a CASA volunteer occurred when he and Chrissy began fostering their oldest daughter, Jaley. As new foster parents, they quickly realized the complexity of the foster care system and the challenges children in the state’s care often face. Their CASA volunteer became Jaley’s voice in the courts, eventually recommending adoption. Reis shares a fun fact about his daughters: "People are often surprised to learn that our daughters are only seven months apart. After we began fostering our oldest daughter, Jaley, we found out Chrissy was pregnant with our youngest, Piper."
Reis recalls the board’s greatest accomplishment since 2021: "When I joined CASA of Terrebonne Inc., the program faced significant challenges, including a shortage of advocates caused by the combined effects of Hurricane Ida and the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the CASA staff and Board of Directors have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of our program throughout Terrebonne Parish. Through our efforts, we have rebounded by recruiting more advocates and received a tremendous outpouring of donations, which are essential in supporting our mission. I feel we have accomplished the beginnings of bringing our community together and ensuring that one day every child in foster care has a voice through CASA."
When asked what advice he would give someone considering joining CASA of Terrebonne, Reis encourages them to take the leap: "Don’t think twice about it, just do it!" He emphasizes that the work CASA volunteers do is not for personal gain but to help vulnerable children in the community who could use a voice in the courts. Reis finds the work incredibly rewarding, knowing he is fulfilling the call of God to help children in need.
For those who want to support CASA of Terrebonne but aren’t sure where to start, Reis offers this advice: "Supporting CASA of Terrebonne doesn’t always mean donating money. You can participate in our annual fundraisers, attend outreach events, or offer help with our Christmas toy drive." There are many ways to give back, and every effort helps to make a difference in the lives of children in the foster care system.
For Reis, the work with CASA of Terrebonne is deeply personal. As a father, he understands the importance of providing children with love, support, and the chance to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. He views his involvement with the program as part of his purpose in life: to help those who are less fortunate and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Through his work with CASA of Terrebonne and his dedication to his family and community, Reis continues to be a shining example of how one person can make a profound difference in the lives of others.
