Mia Foret
Meet Mia Foret. Mia is one of our youngest advocates but don’t let that fool you, she comes with a heart full of compassion for her CASA kids. Mia learned about CASA from visiting our booth at Southdown Marketplace and winning the raffle for a swag bag. Once she learned about the CASA role and what the requirements were, she signed up for the very next training class. She has a psychology degree from Nicholls State University and is familiar with social services. She believed our program would be a good fit and we totally agree. Mia has been a CASA volunteer since May of 2021. She has served on two different cases and a total of three children.
Mia is a lifelong resident of Houma, however, in the future, she would like to move out of state. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games, being outdoors, decorating for fall, traveling and watching sports. Mia is currently an adult probation and parole officer. She enjoys being a point of support, especially for children. Mia does not have any children of her own; however, she has a nine-year-old godchild, Bella, whom she enjoys a special bond with. She also has a two-year-old tuxedo cat named Sir Reginald who is very important to her. While Mia is traveling, she enjoys trying different ramen restaurants!
When asked what her advice would be to anyone thinking of becoming a CASA she said “I recommend it if anyone has even the smallest interest to work with youth. It is a great way to connect and get involved with a role that makes a difference.” Mia further shared that being able to provide goodie boxes and gifts to her CASA children has been such a delightful part of the process. We are thankful for advocates like Mia as well as our supporters who make Mia’s role possible!
