Who We Are

Meet a CASA

Karen Billiot

Karen Billiot

Karen Billiot has been married to her husband, Kent, for 26 years. Born and raised in Houma, Karen and her husband both grew up in DuLarge. They spent 10 years living in Texas but ultimately realized that being close to family mattered most. Together, they are proud parents of four children and share their home with a 13-year-old Yorkie named Daisy.

Professionally, Karen works from home doing contract work for Verizon Wireless, where she helps set up cell towers. She has been with the company for 13 years, and the flexibility of her role allows her to be present for her family. Much of her free time is spent bringing her son to sports practices and enjoying time with the people she loves most.

Karen is deeply passionate about serving others. She trained to become a leader for Celebrate Recovery at Living Word Church, a program that launched on November 6, 2025. This ministry holds a special place in her heart.

About a year and a half ago, Karen became a CASA volunteer and has since worked on two cases involving seven children. She was introduced to CASA by her boss while living in Texas and later became more involved locally; including volunteering at the Herman J. Courville Crawfish Boil-off, with the proceeds benefiting CASA of Terrebonne.

As a CASA volunteer, Karen visits the children she serves monthly and stays in regular contact with their foster families. When preparing for court, she reviews notes from visits along with medical, dental, and school records, making recommendations based on what is in the best interest of the child.

One of her most meaningful experiences, along with a fellow advocate, was helping reunite four boys with their father. Karen encourages others to become CASA volunteers, emphasizing that even a few hours a month can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
