Hollyn Davis
For the past two years, Hollyn Davis has been making a meaningful difference in the lives of children in foster care through her service as a CASA volunteer. Over these two years, Hollyn has advocated for one sibling group of three children and knows that changing the course of even one family's story can create a lasting impact.
Hollyn first learned about CASA through her longtime friend, June Bennett. She now partners with her best friend, Amanda Twiner, to advocate for the siblings, sharing responsibilities such as monthly visits, documentation, phone calls, and court preparation. Together, they work diligently to ensure every detail is accurate and every child's needs are represented.
When preparing for court, Hollyn carefully reviews documentation, communications, and previous court requests to create factual, evidence-based reports. She collaborates with everyone involved in the children's lives, helps ensure needed resources are in place, and even assists with transportation so families can attend court. Her commitment to thorough documentation helps provide the court with the information needed to make decisions in the children's best interests.
Hollyn believes one of her greatest accomplishments is ensuring important evidence is documented, knowing that even a single detail can help change the outcome of a child's case. Her advice for anyone considering becoming a CASA volunteer is simple: "If we can all do our part, then we can make the change. A little effort by each of us could go a long way."
Serving as a CASA volunteer has also strengthened Hollyn professionally. After spending 15 years as a teacher and now serving as a first-year Assistant Principal at Coteau-Bayou Blue, she says becoming a CASA volunteer sharpened her ability to recognize signs that a child may need help. She describes the experience as life-changing, both personally and professionally.
A lifelong Houma resident, Hollyn has been married to her husband, Justin, for 13 years. Together they have two sons, Hunter and Jackson, and a mini Goldendoodle named Millie. When she's not advocating for children, she enjoys working out and listening to health and wellness podcasts.
