Casey Verdin
Meet Casey Verdin! For the past two years, Casey has served as a CASA advocate, representing four children across two cases. One of her proudest accomplishments was successfully completing her first case and helping achieve the best possible outcome for the child through objective advocacy and factual reporting. Even more meaningful to her was showing a child that love and support can come from unexpected places.
Each month, Casey visits her CASA children, makes phone calls, attends court hearings, and collaborates with her CASA partner, DCFS, foster parents, and supervisor to ensure each child receives the advocacy they deserve. She prepares for court by reviewing her notes and working closely with her team to provide accurate, thorough reports.
After hearing about CASA from fellow advocate Sarah Hebert, Casey decided to get involved and hasn't looked back. Her advice for anyone considering becoming an advocate is simple: "Just do it! If you're looking for purpose, want to make a difference, or hope to change a child's life for the better, CASA is the place for you."
Casey says one of the best parts of being a CASA advocate is the support she receives from the program. "The office and staff are literally your biggest cheerleaders and truly value you. You are supported and surrounded by wonderful people who make a difference for children in our parish."
Outside of CASA, Casey has been married to her husband, Christopher Sr., for 10 years, and they have been together for 21 years. They have three children - Alaesia, Canden, and bonus son Christopher Jr. - and one grandchild. Originally from Chauvin, she has lived in Houma for the past 20 years and works as an Accounting Analyst. She enjoys spending time with family, attending concerts and live music, following true crime, and is a self-proclaimed Scentsy addict. A fun fact about Casey is that she has a rare form of colorblindness that is typically found only in men, and her daughter shares the same trait.
