Brett Portier
Born and raised in Chauvin, Louisiana, Brett has been a resident of Houma since 2010. He has been with his partner, Adda Terrebonne, for eight years and they share a beautiful blended family of three children: Ryleigh (19), Jackson (13), and Lane (11). Their home is also filled with three beloved dogs: Milo, Odin, and Charleigh.
Professionally, Brett serves as the Vice President of I.T. and Procurement for Olivier International, though he jokingly admits he’s “counting down the days until retirement.” When he’s not at work, you can find him spending time with family and friends, traveling, relaxing outdoors with his dogs, or cracking jokes to make others laugh.
Brett’s all-time favorite movie is Frozen — and he’s had “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” as his ringtone since the movie was released! In addition to his new role with CASA, Brett also serves as Board President at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School, where his leadership and compassion continue to make a positive impact.
Brett’s journey with CASA began in 2014, when a family friend introduced him to the mission. He became an advocate, dedicating himself to supporting a child in foster care. Even after stepping back due to work demands, Brett stayed in touch with that child, continuing to offer guidance and encouragement years later. “I felt like the child I advocated for gave more to me than I could ever give to them,” he says. “Becoming an advocate helped me grow emotionally, become a better person, and become a better father. Looking back, I think I needed CASA in my life more than they needed me.”
Now, as a new CASA Board Member, Brett is eager to contribute his time, experience, and heart to help strengthen community awareness and support for CASA’s mission. “I look forward to joining a committee where I can bring my knowledge to an already All-Star board,” he shares. “CASA is an amazing organization that truly helps shape the future for so many children in need.”
His advice to others considering involvement: “If helping and giving back is in your heart, you won’t find a more worthy cause for your time and passion. Every bit of support - whether financial, volunteering, or simply lending a hand - becomes a symbol of hope for children in need.”
