Introduction to TBRI: Trust Based Relations Intervention

On May 15, 2019, CASA of Terrebonne held it's first TRBI Caregiver Training for our CASA volunteers at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library. At the session, our Volunteers were introduced to the Trust Based Relational Intervention approach.

"Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)® is an approach that is designed for children from “hard places” such as abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Because of their histories, it is increasingly difficult for these children to trust the loving adults in their lives, which often results in perplexing behaviors. TBRI® offers practical tools for parents, caregivers, teachers, or anyone who works with children, to see the “whole child” in their care, to meet them in their need, and to help that child reach his/her highest potential.

TBRI® was developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU and Texas Baptist Children's Home (TBCH) began adopting the practice over the past few years.

The 3 main components of implementing TBRI® are connecting, empowering, and correcting." -- TBCH.

On August 13, 2019, CASA will be hosting the next session in which we will be exploring the connecting principles. To attend the second session, you must review the introduction material first. We have attached the participant workbook here. If you are a CASA of Terrebonne Volunteer and are interested in participating in our next session please contact Christine at caucoin@casaofterrebonne.org or at 985.876.0550.
